Cosy holiday in relaxing environment. Christmas buffet in December, winter holidays, yoga weekend, summer holiday in the light summer days and nights…
Nestled in the tiny village of Särnaheden, overlooking the fjälls and lakes of Dalarna in Sweden, is our beautiful hotel and restaurant. Knappgården is a traditional 17th century log cabin with 11 rooms and a cottage.
We offer you a relaxed stay with a 3 course dinner experience that varies every night depending on seasonal produce. There is no better location to sit back and relax, eat, drink and enjoy our little patch of wilderness. We offer plenty of activities in and around the hotel, so you’re never far from the action! Within 30 mins distance you have access to Fulufjället National Park with Sweden’s highest waterfall, Fjätervålen and Idre fjäll downhill slopes and cross-country skiing. We are also centrally located for winter activities such as husky safaris, snow scooter tours, horse riding and winter fishing on the ice.
In the summer, the sprawling surrounding pine and fir forests are carpeted with moss and packed with wild blueberries, lingonberries and mushrooms and the marshes provide cloudberries and cranberries for the menu. Stunning national park Fulufjället and several nature reserves border the grounds as do rivers and lakes with fantastic fishing. Elks, roe deer, wolves, bears, lynx and reindeer roam nearby, Idre Golf Club is an accredited 18 hole golf course just 20 min away. Wonderful fishing, walking, trekking and cycling in all directions from here.
Welcome to Knappgården Fjällhotel!
Kjell and Annika has a long experience from different restaurants in the world. We have actually been working together since 1987 when we met at Knappgården! We will be happy to offer you a great experience in beautiful Särnaheden and Knappgården.
After 13.5 years in Dalarna we have decided to move south east and now own a B&B on the beautiful south Devon ‘Jurassic’ coast.

At Knappgården we are privileged to be so close to nature and we expect to do what we can to take care of the environment.
We have installed soilheating ( a matter of 2,5 km tubing), and pay extra for 100% green electricity from Dalakraft. All of our waste is recycled and you will find appropriate bins by the loading bay. We source as much local products that we can find, grow our own salads in summer and pick berries and mushrooms in season.
